Between Castellina in Chianti e Panzano, following the directions to “La Piazza”, we will arrive at a little medieval Borg. A bright square, few stone houses, a restaurant: L’Osteria Alla Piazza, have the rustic semblance of a colonic house located in the Chianti countryside. We can eat outside, in a big garden or in the terrace with a breathtaking view on the vineyard. The lovers of the Tuscan cuisine aren’t let down: Pappardelle with wild boar sauce, a delicious steak, lasagnette with hare sauce, mix fried of the Osteria, deer filled, the codfish. The Porcini are always fresh. The ingredient and the flavour are these of the Mediterranean cuisine, but the recipes are an exclusive of the chef, Tiziano Ancillotti, at the stoves from the 1989. Great dishes of how the Osteria is the “Pecorino cheese in a “Carriage” of eggplants: the idea arrives from the South of Italy, but instead of Mozzarella cheese we will find the Tuscan Pecorino. Unforgettable the “Spaghetti of Tiziano”, a big dish of spaghetti with a mix of seafood, crayfish, prawns and blue fish. All pan-fried with savoury fresh tomatoes. To suggest: the jelly rolls with pumpkin, the jelly rolls are home made with fresh pasta and stuffed with yellow pumpkin sauce and ricotta cheese, oven-baked and garnished with fowl sauce. All the desserts – and also the ice cream – are home made. Trade on the lunch at Osteria la Piazza to walk in the medieval Borg, to discover the ancient church and to visit the farmhouse of “San Giorgio alla Piazza”.
